projects
In Big Picture, we dive into three types of projects. Independent projects, group projects, and capstones. Independent projects are mostly individual students diving into a specific topic with guidance from their advisor. Group projects are with a group of students, also exploring a specific topic or issue in the community, and it is less directed by the advisor and more focused on teamwork. Capstone projects are assessments all Big Picture students have to pass in order to graduate. They include STEM fair, introduction to self directed learning (It it sometimes referred to as Gateway), a research paper, a service thesis project, and a senior portfolio defense. The latter isn't so much as a physical project as it is a way for the student to close off their time in Big Picture, and for the community to celebrate all the learning they did in their years.
