group project
what can school become?
here is a video of the players giving us feedback on our game!
This was a really interesting project to work on! The first half of the project cycle we worked on learning about games and game design, and then the original plan was for each student to create their own game. But about halfway through the project cycle, Jim (the advisor for the project) decided that wasn't going to reflect our learning and help us reach our goal. So we ended up switching gears and collaborating together to make a game that was more concentrated on self directed learning and working with your community.

Throughout this project, I worked with others to make sure everyone was feeling like their voice was being heard, as well as took on leadership positions. I think something that we all struggled with during this project was even work distribution. A lot of the time some students felt swamped while others were grasping at possible work tasks. I think if we were to do this project again, we should have mini teams dedicated to one aspect of the team- I felt like I was skipping around to different parts of the game a lot and ended up being a bit confused and overwhelmed. But the play test went really well, and now Big Picture may use this same format to engage new/prospective students and introduce them to self directed learning. So all in all, I think this project was a success!
